Phonebanking

The Department of Campaigning hosts weekly phonebanks to support Democrats running for office across the country in 2023, focusing our efforts on close, critical races. In 2022, GUCD's phonebanks for Democratic candidates helped Democrats win governorships, protect our Senate majority, and keep the House as close as possible. We helped Raphael Warnock win re-election in Georgia, Mark Kelly win in Arizona, John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania and Mary Peltola in Alaska! Canvassing

The Department of Campaigning also contacts voters where we can have the greatest impact: on their doorstep. Our door-knocking in 2022 was crucial to the re-election campaigns of Rep. Abigail Spanberger and Rep. David Trone, both of whom were crucial to keeping the Republican majority as small as possible! The Campaigning Department also took an overnight trip to knock on doors for John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro who won their races against radical right-wing opponents and will be crucial to achieving progressive wins. We look forward to knocking on more doors in 2023 on behalf of Democrats running for the Virginia legislature!

Weekend Trips

Last semester, the campaigning department took regular weekend trips to Virginia and Maryland to help elect Democrats and took one long weekend overnight trip to Pennsylvania to help elect John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro. In 2023, we have more trips planned! There an excellent way to get out of the city, talk to some everyday voters, bond with other GUCD members, and help elect Democrats while you do it!
